- Cash for clunkers:
I like my clunker. It is paid off. Yes, it is the number one clunker turned in: A Ford Explorer. My Explorer barely gets 15 miles to a gallon. I think I might get 17 miles to a gallon going downhill with a tailwind; but consider this: I have $0 payment, and like $50 a month for insurance. At, let's say $4 a gallon of gas, which was high. I fill up once a week. That is 20 gallons times 4 which would be $80 dollars, or $320 a month. Now if I bought a new car, no math here you can do your own, and I pay $15,000 for a new vehicle, for that money I could fill up for the next 46 months without any risk. That is not counting the money I need to pay in sales tax, license fees, and probably having to up my insurance. I think I will pass for now until I have the money to pay cash for a new vehicle. Thanks anyways.
